To contract or not to contract? As the IT contract jobs economy slowly starts making the uphill climb out of the recession, the demand for IT contractors is expected to climb with it. Over the past few years, businesses have been practising prudence and moving away from employing permanent IT departments opting to use IT contractors. This trend has meant that in the first quarter of 2010, just over 40% of all IT jobs in the UK are contract-based, and this is to continue into the future, predicts Gartner.
