As you may or may not be aware, millions upon millions of homes from all over the globe contain at least one Microwave
oven. Microwave ovens are a fantastic invention that can make preparing
food so simple. A microwave oven is an appliance found in the kitchen
that heats food up electronically using non-ionizing microwave
radiation. This technique means that certain foods can be cooked or
re-heated a lot quicker than if they were to be cooked in a regular
oven.
The first microwave oven was invented by Dr Percy Spencer after the
Second World War. He developed and modified it, based on radar
technology. The very first one was sold in 1947. Several modifications
and alterations in size and shape were made over the next few years as
Spencer’s original design was simply too large to be used in people’s
homes. The countertop microwave, designed by the Amana Corporation was
first introduced in 1967 and was considered to be a ground breaking
